Word has just reached our offices that our Unified Wold Heavyweight Champion Almighty Sheik has suffered an injury while on the first leg of his World Domination tour. The Almighty One has issued this statement on his Face Book page:
Sheik News:
All appearances for Sept/Oct/Nov have been cancelled. I have suffered an injury in Australia that will put me on the shelve for the time being. I am working hard on a Friday-November 30th return to professional wrestling for Resistance Pro in Chicago, IL. Thanks to all that support me and my career. I’ve had a strong 10 years being injury free but unfortunately in this business injury
***PIC OF THE DAY***
A young Gabriel Gallo (then called “G.Q.”) vs. The “Dog Faced Gremlin” Rick Steiner @ an ICW show in at the Sierra Vista Army base back in 2004 I believe. It was a fun match, in which I saw Rick punch a photographer out for getting to close
He then punched through a steel chair into my noggin’. Luckily, there isn’t much to damage up there! LOL.
On a side note, I was informed by several parties’ later that Rick had been propositioned to break my leg in the ring (weird, had heat even then) by a certain old tag partner of mine, and that he had refused. Now, if this is true or not, I don’t know; the sources were pretty sound and came to me almost 3 years apart, but if it is I’m so glad he didn’t do it. (I’ll be speaking about this incident & more in detail soon. Very soon, so stay tuned…)
Zero1 USA Pure Pro is announcing that our show scheduled for September 22 at the Burning Heart Dojo has been canceled & postponed to a later date. This means that the scheduled re-match between Ryan Castellucci & the Zero1 USA Unified World Heavyweight Champion The Almighty Sheik will be rescheduled for an upcoming Zero1 USA event at a later date, but whether or not it will be for the Unified Championship is depending on the Sheik’s ability to retain the title.
The reason for this cancellation is that the City of Mesa Fire Marshal’s Office apparently shut the venue (El Mercado Indoor Swap Mart) down. We received word at the Zero1 USA offices last week that Zero1 USA must remove all equipment and property from the building in case of shut down by the fire marshal.
Unfortunately, this closure also means the suspension of all training classes at the Burning Heart Dojo until a new facility can be found.
Representatives of Z1 USA-PPW have been attempting to move the show to a suitable venue all week, with no success.
Zero1 USA Pure Pro also is announcing the end to their working agreement with AZ based Lucha Libre company Club Deportivo Colesio Lucha Libre Mexicana.
The reasons for the split pertain to the closure of the building, which both companies shared for training & live events. As of last Sunday, CDC was supposed to have their final show at the venue; but word has reached the office of Zero1 USA that they reached an agreement with the City to comply with current fire regulations & will continue running at the Mercado. (Z1USA representatives have been attempting to contact CDC Lucha Libre to see if the show could stay at the venue; but as of press time no calls or messages have been returned.)
The cancellation of the working agreement means several things for both company’s, but for Zero1 USA it means the following:
1. Zero1 USA events will no longer be held at the El Mercado in Mesa
2. The Burning Heart Dojo is searching for a new training facility & classes are suspended until further notice. (all students currently enrolled will be pro-rated or refunded this month’s fees)
3. The tryout scheduled for Oct. 20 is cancelled unless a suitable training facility is secured by that date.
4. The CDC Lucha Libre Mexicana (AZ) FaceBook ( a Zero1 USA maintained site) will be shut down in three (3) business days.
5. Zero1 USA MAIN ROSTER talent will no longer be appearing on CDC Lucha Libre events. (Gabriel Gallo & Dom Vitalli) ***Local roster affiliates will/may still appear, as they are independent contractors & go on show by show deals***
We at Zero1 USA apologize for the inconvenience, and ticket purchasers’ may be refunded their full ticket price. Our next event is scheduled for Nov. 2, and details will be forthcoming soon. We look forward to seeing you at our next event & whatever you do, please continue SUPPORTING PRO WRESTLING!
